How to Move Air Hockey Tables

Air hockey is a fun recreational activity that can keep two players entertained for hours. Air hockey tables are a long-term investment, especially those made out of high-quality wood or sturdy plastic. An air hockey table is much heavier than normal tables because of the game fixtures and electrical components, such as the blower motor. If you're renovating or remodeling your game room and you need to move your air hockey table, these steps can help you do it without damaging the game or your other furniture.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Wear work gloves before lifting the table if you would like to protect your hands. Some air hockey tables are incredibly heavy, and intricate metal or woodwork can dig into your hands.

    • 2

Stand behind the goal at one end of the hockey table. Have a friend stand behind the opposite goal. You and your friend should both grip the table at the corners. If the table is very heavy, you may want to move your hands closer together for leverage.

    • 3

Lift the table from both ends. Coordinate your lift so that both people are trying to lift at the same time. Keep the table suspended at least an inch or two from the ground.

    • 4

Carry the air hockey table to the desired destination. Do not allow the table's feet to drag. This may ruin a flooring surface. If traveling up and down stairs, make sure that the table doesn't hit any stairs.

    • 5

Lower the table so that all four legs come into contact with the ground at the same time.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may need to dismantle your air hockey table if it won't fit through a doorway or up and down stairs. Reference your user's guide for proper dismantling procedures.

  • Do not let the table sit on two legs for any amount of time. Tipping the table in this fashion creates a sideways force on the legs, which may cause them to break.
