How to Wash Wetsuits

Wetsuits are incredibly easy to take care of, although there are a few simple do's and don'ts to follow to make sure your wetsuit stays in good condition. Make sure your wetsuit is rinsed after each dive--an easy way to do this is to simply rinse off in the shower with the suit still on. Rinse both the inside and outside of the wetsuit to avoid mildew or residue from gathering.

Instructions

1. Fill a bathtub with water of any temperature. Place the wetsuit in the tub, making sure it is completely submerged so all the salt and dirt can be soaked away.

2. Let the suit soak for about an hour, periodically checking in to make sure it is still submerged.

3. Use special neoprene shampoo periodically to clean your wetsuit. Soaking alone is enough to rid the suit of excess buildup, but it's good to use the neoprene shampoo every 10 dives or so to keep the suit in top condition. Simply add a small amount to the water and wash according to the directions on the bottle.

4. After the wetsuit is done, hang it to dry. Do not put it away until the suit is completely dry. When you put it away, put it somewhere dry and out of the sun to avoid cracking or further damage.
