How to Sync Zune With iTunes
Microsoft's Zune device is limited to the default program that comes with it for managing music and media files. Apple's iTunes provides a much easier, and more popular, interface that allows you to effortlessly manage and track your media library. By using a third-party application, there is a way to unlock your Zune device so that you can manually transfer your files from iTunes. Here's an easy step-by-step guide on how you can quickly sync your Zune with iTunes.

Go to the Dark Zune website and register for free. Once your free account is set up, download the latest version of the zSuite program (see References).

Unzip the installer package for the zSuite and double-click the installer to install the program on the hard drive of your computer.

Connect your Microsoft Zune to your computer. Open up the Zune program and allow the normal syncing process to begin. Wait until you see the "Syncing..." message and Zune's starry logo on your screen.

Click "ctrl+alt+del." Select the "Processes" tab in the Windows task manager and click "Zune.exe." Click the "End Process" button. Leave the Zune connected to your computer.

Open the zAlternator program in the zSuite application you installed onto your computer. Click the "Desired Service Provider" drop-down menu. Select "Generic WPD" and click "Apply." This process unlocks your Microsoft Zune and changes it to a generic portable Windows device.

Open up the Apple iTunes program. Your Zune should now be listed as a device in the left navigation pane. Transfer media files to your Zune by manually dragging and dropping files from your iTunes library to your Zune in the left navigation pane.
