How to Present a Photography Portfolio
When pursuing a career in professional photography, the most important thing a photographer needs is a work portfolio. This portfolio is what the prospective client will look at to determine if they are willing to work with a photographer. The portfolio should reflect the photographer's talent. The most important aspect of the portfolio is picture quality. If the picture does not look perfect, then it should not be included. As with a modeling portfolio, the pictures included should be recent, within the last two years, unless they have been published.

1
Determine the type of work the client is seeking, by researching or asking. The appropriate portfolio must be presented to the prospective client. For example, a fashion magazine wants to see fashion photography, not artistic landscapes.
-
2
Answer all the client's questions. Be prepared to speak about experience and individual pictures.
-
-
3
Allow the client time to review the portfolio in peace. If the portfolio is presented in person, it is important to give the client time to examine the work with little to no interruptions.
-
4
Bring basic equipment along. Clients may hire for shoots on the spot. Clients may test a photographer on the spot. Clients may want to see the photographer's equipment.
-
5
Leave the client with a business card at the end of the meeting.
