Tips & Warnings
Familiarize yourself with your newsgroup's FAQ, or Frequently Asked Questions, to make sure you're following proper netiquette.
Remember that newsgroup postings are visible to all users of the newsgroup. Avoid giving out personal information.
If you want to reply directly to a fellow user but not to the entire newsgroup, search the headings of the person's most recent post for his or her e-mail address and send a message via e-mail.
Avoid posting replies that are variations on "I agree" or "Me too," unless you want to include some new facts or reasoning as well.

It's often a good idea to read a newsgroup for a week or more to get a feel for the way topics are posted and the feel of the group--is it academic, or casual, or funny, or sarcastic? Most FAQs recommend this, but some groups consider it common knowledge and don't spell it out in so many words.
