How to Fit Junior Golf Clubs
Today men, women and children of all ages play and enjoy the game of golf. Just as it is important for women to have clubs that fit their body types, it also is important for children to have clubs that fit their body types and sizes. In the past, children were given cut-down hand-me-down clubs that their fathers and mothers no longer used. To properly learn the game of golf, kids need to have a set of clubs that are designed for their shorter and lighter bodies. Several companies design golf clubs for the junior golfer and there are several factors to consider, such as the length of the club, the shaft flex, the weight of the golf club and the size of the grip, when picking out a club for a junior golfer.

1
Select a manufacturer that designs clubs that will grow with your kid. You want your junior golfer to be able to use the golf clubs for a couple of years. Golf clubs are expensive and you want to be as economical as possible throughout this process.

2
Consider the length of the golf club. Again, you want the golfer to be able to grow with the clubs. The child should choke down, or move their grip down, on the club at least one inch but no more. Choking down one inch allows the child to swing normally and get the club around their bodies.

Opt for a lightweight steel or graphite shaft for your junior golfer. In the past, when children would get hand-me-down clubs that were cut, that would make the shaft extra stiff, thus making the swing that much more difficult. Lightweight steel and graphite shafts are much more flexible and easier for the kids to swing.

4
Choose a light club for the junior golfer. Lighter clubs are easier for the junior golfer to pull back and get their swing on the right swing plane. If the swing is on the incorrect plane, it will cause the golfer to become unbalanced.
-
5
Measure the child's hand size and pick the appropriate grip. Don't forget about the right grip size for the junior golfer. Grip size is just as important in fitting a junior golfer as it is in an adult golfer.
