How to Minimize All Windows in Windows 7 at the Touch of a Button


Windows 7 is Microsoft's new flagship operating system. In Windows Vista and Windows XP, Microsoft provided an older taskbar that allowed you to click a "Show Desktop" button. In Windows 7, the taskbar was redesigned and you no longer can click the "Show Desktop" button. Hidden on the new taskbar in Windows 7 is a way to "Show Desktop." When you click the "Show Desktop" button, it minimized all open windows and shows your desktop. It was an easy way to remove clutter quickly.

  • Locate your taskbar at the bottom of your computer.

  • Move your mouse to the far right-hand corner of your taskbar. You will see the time and date, and to the right, a small rectangular box.

  • Hover over the box to quickly show your desktop or click the box to minimize all windows and show your desktop.

Tips & Warnings

  • Click Windows key + M to automatically minimize all windows from your keyboard.
  • Click Windows key + space bar to quickly view your desktop and then return to your existing window.
