How to Convert from InDesign to QuarkXpress 8
Quark and Adobe are fierce rivals in the page layout software industry. As such, Adobe's InDesign and Quark's Xpress are not compatible with each other. This poses a problem for designers who have clients sending them documents created in the alternative program; a designer who uses QuarkXpress will not be able to open their clients' InDesign documents. Markzware has created an Xtension for Quark that allows designers to convert InDesign documents into QuarkXpress 8 files.
Instructions

1
Download ID2Q. You can purchase ID2Q for Mac or Windows from Markzware's website. The Xtensions cost $199 as of 2009.
-
2
Move ID2Q file to QuarkXpress's extension folder. Navigate to the extension folder on your hard drive. Drag the ID2Q Xtension file into this folder.
-
-
3
Restart QuarkXpress before proceeding. A new drop-down menu, Markzware, appears in the menu bar after once ID2Q is installed and Quark is restarted.
-
4
Convert the InDesign document. Select "Markzware" then "ID2Q" then "Covert InDesign Document." Navigate to the InDesign document that you want to convert.
-
5
Check to make sure the conversion process incorporated everything correctly. Although ID2Q strives for 90 percent accuracy in conversions, some items may not have converted correctly. Compare the Quark document with the original to make sure there is no corruption.
