How to Make Scented Teacup Candles

Things You'll Need
- Teacup
- Wax (paraffin or microwaveable soy)
- Microwave or double boiler
- Potholders or oven mitts
- Candle wick
- Candle scent
- Pencil

Find an old teacup from your kitchen cupboard, local thrift store, flea market or a garage sale. Clean and dry the cup completely.

Using a wick that is sized at least 1 inch taller than your cup, wrap the top of wick around a pencil and place it in the center of the cup with the pencil resting on the rim. The wick should be taut and straight in the cup.

Melt the wax until it becomes translucent. Heat the wax in a double boiler If you are using paraffin wax or the microwave if you are using a microwaveable type of wax such as soy. With microwaveable wax, be sure to heat it in a microwave-safe bowl and according to the package instructions. Once it is clear and smooth, remove the wax from the heat.

Add the candle scent to the melted wax according to package instructions and stir it to combine the scent and the wax.

Using potholders or oven mitts, pour the wax into the teacup. Gently straighten the wick if it has moved, being careful not to burn yourself.

Let the wax sit until it is cool and solid, about 30 minutes. Trim the wick to 1/4 inch.

When heating the wax, pay close attention not to let it smoke. Remove wax from the heat as soon as it is clear.
