Quick and Easy Candied Yams

Ready for a quick fix to your traditional candied yams recipe? If you are the lucky women/man responsible to cook Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner single-handedly, read on for a simple recipe to make candied yams in your microwave. Easy ...I promise!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Microwaveable container
  • Yams
  • Marshmellows
  • Sugar, Cinnamon, Salt, Butter
  1. Step 1

To get started on preparing candied yams for your Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Holiday dinner: Clean and peel raw yams.

  2. Step 2

Slice raw yams in 1 inch thick slices.

  3. Step 3

Take a microwave-able container and pour a 1/4 inch of water inside. Then lay out the yams evenly.

  4. Step 4

Put the yams in the microwave for about 5 minutes.

  5. Step 5

Test the readiness of the yams by sticking a fork inside. If the fork easily penetrates through, the yams are cooked. If not, return yams to microwave.

  6. Step 6

Once the yams are mostly cooked through, pour on the spices and marshmallows. Sprinkle sugar, cinnamon, a pinch of salt evenly. Pour mini marshmallows, or cut of large marshmallows and distribute over the yams.

  7. Step 7

Cook the yams a few more minutes in the microwave until the butter and marshmallows are melted.
