All of us have had it happen. Maybe you banged your wall when installing that last new bed frame. Or maybe an over-assertive new puppy had helped to "redecorate" your walls with a few, well-chosen bite marks along the sheetrock. Well don't despair. You can make it better than new, with a few simple tools available at Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, or Sherwin Williams.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • DAP Patching plaster; 14 oz can, for a few small holes
  • Spackling knife; 3-5"
  • Spray on wall texture
  • Sponge paint brush
  • Matching wall color paint
  1. Step 1
Evenly appying spackle plaster to fill a hole.

First, take your spackling knife and apply a generous amount of DAP spackling compound on it. Then push the spackling compound deeply into the effected area of the wall hole. Use your spackling knife to ease out of the hole and smooth the spackling compound all around the outside edges of the hole.

  2. Step 2

Then use your spackling knife to smooth the areas all around the exterior of the damaged hole, until the surfaces all look consistent and level with one another.

  3. Step 3

Let the area dry one or two hours as necessary, and sand lightly as needed to insure all wall levels are sanded level and smooth with one another.

  4. Step 4

Spray on the wall texture and let dry a few minutes. Use a cardboard cutout or block of wood to gently flatten the wall texture against the wall, to assimilate the original texture used on the wall surface. Then let dry another hour.

  5. Step 5

Using a sponge applicator paint brush, gently paint over the area, using the original wall paint color. Do not apply more than one or two coats. Let dry one-two-hours, then reassess to see if you have a good, dry paint and surface match. Only one or two coats should be necessary. If so, your work is now done!
