How to Use a Hoover Steam Vac
Since 1908, the Hoover brand of carpet and floor cleaners has successfully tackled a wide variety of the many cleaning tasks that home and business owners face. The SteamVac design continues this tradition by cleaning not only deep carpet and stairwells, but also bare floors and upholstery, removing dirt, debris and stains. Push down on the handle of the cleaning solution tank to remove from your SteamVac and then unscrew the tank's cap by turning it counterclockwise.

Fill the cap with carpet, upholstery or bare floor cleaner (5 oz. for carpet and upholstery and 3 oz. for bare floors); pour into the tank and add hot tap water to the fill line. Replace the cap by twisting it clockwise until it locks.

Hold the cleaning solution tank by the handle with one hand and the bottom of the tank with the other. Carefully push it into the SteamVac above the recovery tank until you hear or feel the handle lock.

Vacuum the area with a dry vacuum.

Select a method of cleaning. Use the main nozzle for carpets, the main nozzle with cleaning tool for bare floors or the suction hose with nozzle for stairs, crevices and upholstery. If cleaning bare floors, go to Step 4. If cleaning stairs, crevices or upholstery, go to Step 5.

Push the handle release pedal and then the "ON/OFF" pedal to begin cleaning. Grasp the solution trigger on the handle; slowly push the SteamVac forward across the carpet and then back along the same path. Let go of the solution trigger and then repeat vacuum along the same path to draw the solution, water and dirt/debris through the nozzle to the recovery tank. Repeat across the entire carpet. Check the recovery tank intermittently to guarantee that it doesn't overfill and empty as needed.

Remove the cleaning solution and recovery tanks and lay your SteamVac on the floor so that the front of the main nozzle points up. Slide the bare floor cleaning tool onto the front end of the nozzle by pushing the tabbed end into the right side of the nozzle and the arrow end into the left side. If completed correctly the arrow should point up. Replace the tanks and follow Step 3 cleaning instructions.

Remove the cleaning solution tank. Lay the handle flat and open the recovery tank lid to attach the suction hose. Remove the front panel and slide the hose's connector end in the slot. Open the small "stair/upholstery cleaning connection" door on the base top above the main nozzle and push the solution tube end onto its connector. Stand the handle upright, push the cleaning solution tank into place and follow Step 3 to clean stairs, but grasp solution trigger on the hose handle to release cleaning solution. With upholstery, follow same the same instructions, but overlap the spray to reduce streaking.

Tips & Warnings
Never complete more than four passes over the same area while grasping the solution trigger as the area can become oversaturated resulting in carpet, floor or upholstery damage.
