How to Dismantle a Kitchen Sink

In time, your kitchen sink may have to be replaced. Whether it be from general wear and tear, or because of a kitchen update, properly removing the existing sink is a process that can be accomplished by any novice do-it-yourself home owner.

    • Adjustable wrenches
    • Pliers
    • Screw driver
    • Bucket
    • Utility knife

        Turn off the water supply to the sink using the valve that is located under the cabinet.

        Disconnect the water supply lines using an adjustable wrench.

        Use a bucket to collect any excess water that may drain out from the pipes.

        Disconnect the p-trap using pliers.

        Remove the metal clips, which hold the sink in place, using a screwdriver.

        Cut through the caulking that surrounds the sink. This can be done with a utility knife.

        Push the sink up from under the counter and lift it away from the countertop.

        Clean the edges of the sink cut out thoroughly to remove and debris.
