How to Remove the Bearing From Rollerblade Wheels
You can take the bearings out of Rollerblade wheels for maintenance or to replace them. The bearings are what allow the wheels to spin. Rollerblades begin to slow down and may hesitate as you skate, making a clicking bump when the bearings start to wear. Take the bearings out of your skates before they seize up all together.

1
Take the wheels off by loosening the axle pins with a hex key wrench. Push or pull the axle sleeves out and slip the wheels off the skate runners.

2
Look through the center hole of a wheel bearing. A solid inner barrel from end to end means the bearings have spacers. If there is a gap or seam between the bearings, then there is no spacer. Use Step 3 to remove bearings with spacers, use Step 4 for bearings without spacers.

Push a Rollerblade bearing removal tool into the center of the bearing disk with a spacer sleeve. Hold the wheel against the edge of a table or bench and force the tool into the center until the the bearing and spacer fall through the underside. Use a 3/8 inch wooden dowel and hammer to tap the spacer out if you do not have a bearing tool. Flip the wheel and pry the other bearing out with a slotted screwdriver.

4
Remove bearings that do not hold spacers by prying them out with a slotted screwdriver. Put the flat head of the screwdriver into the center hole behind the top bearing and hold the wheel against a flat surface. Force the handle of the screwdriver downward to pop the bearing out. Turn the wheel over and pry out the opposite bearing in the same manner.
