1
Select a branch from which to take your cutting. For best results, look for a branch from the last growing season that has reached about 8 inches long and has two or three leaf sections. It is best to select your cutting branch in the late fall or the early spring season.
-
2
Cut the branch at the base and remove the leaves from the very bottom of the branch.
-
-
3
Dip the end of the branch that you cut into rooting hormone powder. This is important to stimulate growth hormones in the plant to help encourage it to root when planted.
-
4
Place an equal mixture of peat moss and sand into a plastic planting container. Create a 2-inch hole in the soil mixture.
-
5
Insert the hormone-coated end of the branch into the hole created in the soil. Pack the soil around the branch and water it enough to keep the soil damp.
-
6
Watch your plant for root growth. This can take two to three months. Be sure to water the planting regularly to keep the soil damp while waiting for the rooting process to complete.
