How to Replace a Fuel Filter on a Tempo
The first thing you want to do when your Ford Tempo is not starting or running rough is inspect the fuel filter. The fuel filter pulls debris and sediment out of your fuel system. Your gas tank is subject to receiving dirt and debris when filling up at the gas station. The strainer in the fuel tank is primarily responsible for pulling out any debris. The filter acts as a backup to help remove anything that the strainer may have missed.
