Create an account on a social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook and Twitter. After you enter your personal information and receive a confirmation email that you are accepted as a member, you can then log on and search for other people's profiles by their names. These sites may display new-to-you details about your online friends.

Log on to Family Watchdog at http://www.familywatchdog.us. On Family Watchdog, you can search for convicted sex offenders by name or by location. A search will provide you with a map of your area, complete with each offenders's name, exact address, photo and specific conviction information.
Or open the national sex offender public website at http://www.nsopw.gov. Read the Conditions of Use; if you agree to the conditions, click the "I Agree" box. Enter the security code on the next page and click "Continue." You will then be able to search the sex offender registry by entering a person's name.
