How to Heal Bed Sores Naturally
Bedsores are a type of skin ulcer common among persons who are bedridden or wheelchair bound and cannot change their positions frequently. Blood circulation to the area under pressure can be cut off, resulting in serious wounds. They can appear on many different areas of the body and the first sign of a bedsore is redness in the affected area. Bed sores are easy to treat if found early. If untreated, bedsores can become infected, life-threatening wounds. Tell your doctor immediately if you are concerned about possible bedsores.

Provide massage therapy. It is important to massage a bedridden person to ensure that blood flow is evenly distributed throughout the body. When massaging, avoid places where the bones are close to the skin.

Keep skin dry. When someone is bedridden or wheelchair bound, it is important to keep all areas of the skin dry. Moisture trapped under pressure will destroy the tissue of the skin and result in open sores.

Administer nutrition therapy. If bedsores occur, it is important to administer nutritive therapy to speed wound healing. Vitamin C and zinc are especially effective.

Disinfectant the affected area with sugar. Applying sugar or honey to bedsores will prevent them from becoming infected. Sugar destroys bacteria and poisons and allows the wounds to heal.

Apply an herbal poultice. The herb slippery elm has wound healing properties and the herb comfrey is a demulcent. A demulcent is an herb with abundant mucilage that protects tissue from irritation and inflammation. A paste of these two herbs, bound to the wound with a clean cotton cloth, will cure the wound of any infection.
