How to Cook With Aga Range Ovens
AGA markets a line of ranges for residential use which feature a cooktop, a multi-use oven, a convection oven, and a separate broiler compartment. The multi-use oven features a defrost setting, convection function, and fan-assisted cooking as well as conventional oven settings for browning, base heating or both. These options make the AGA range a very versatile cooking appliance. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
-
Cooktop
-
1
Select appropriate cookware for your cooktop. Don't use pots and pans with cooper or aluminum bases or glass cookware. Use pans that have thick, smooth bases and are clean and dry.
-
2
Use the burner that is appropriately sized for your pot or pan. The pan base should cover the heating surface or overhang the heating surface by no more than 1 inch.
-
-
3
Set the pot or pan on the burner, and when finished, lift it off. Never slide the pot or pan across the cooking surface.
-
4
Push in the control knob and turn it clockwise to heat the whole burner (for burners that have an inner and outer element). Push in the control knob, and then turn it counterclockwise to heat just the inner burner.
Multi-Function (Left Hand) Oven
-
5
Turn the function selector knob to the desired cooking setting. Select from "Defrost," "Convection Oven," "Convection Broiling," "Fan Assisted Oven," "Conventional Oven," "Browning Element" or "Base Heat."
-
6
Turn the temperature knob to the desired temperature.
-
7
Wait for the oven heating light to go out the first time, and then put the food in the oven. The oven heating light will come on and go out periodically during the cooking process as the heating elements come on and go off to maintain temperature in the oven.
Convection (Right Hand) Oven
-
8
Turn the right-hand fan control knob to set the fan speed.
-
9
Turn the temperature knob to the desired temperature.
-
10
Wait for the oven heating light to go out the first time, and then put the food in the oven. The oven heating light will come on and go out periodically during the cooking process as the heating elements come on and go off to maintain temperature in the oven.
Broiler
-
11
Open the broiler door.
-
12
Turn the appropriate broiler element knob to the "On" position. The left knob turns on just the right side element in the broiler unit. The right knob turns on the elements to heat the whole area of the broiler.
-
13
Wait 2 minutes for the broiler to heat the compartment and the pan, and then slide the broiler pan out and put the food on it. Slide the broiler pan back into the oven. Be certain the pan is pushed all the way in and touches the backstop.
-
14
Turn off the oven and remove the broiler pan when cooking is complete. Close the broiler door.

Tips & Warnings
Food is cooked at a lower temperature and for shorter times in a convection oven than in a conventional oven. Reduce the cooking temperature by 20 degrees and reduce the cooking time by 5 to 10 minutes when cooking in a convection oven.
Do not allow objects to drop onto the cooking surface. While the cooktop is sturdy, it can break. If the cooktop breaks or becomes cracked, disconnect power to the range immediately and call for a certified repair technician to have it repaired.
Do not touch the cooking surface while any red indicator lights are lit. The cooktop gets very hot and will stay hot for a period of time after the burners have been turned off.
Never place food directly on the cooktop surface.
Do not close the broiler door while food is cooking in the broiler compartment.
