How to Make a Santa Claus Art Project

Nobody says Christmas like Santa, so make him the star of your craft. Things You'll Need
- Newspaper
- Empty tin can
- Foam plates
- White paint
- Peach or tan paint
- Paintbrushes
- Two wiggly eyes
- Hot glue gun and glue
- White felt
- Red felt
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Bag of cotton balls
- White school glue
- Small brown or pink pom pom

Lay down some newspaper to cover your work area. This will protect your tabletop from damage. Examine your tin can to be sure there are no sharp edges to hurt anyone.

Squirt some of the white paint onto the foam plate. Use the paintbrush to paint the entire can white. Let the paint dry before moving on to the next step.

Draw a triangle on the red felt. Fold the fabric so that you end up with 2 triangles together. Use a pencil to draw the 2 triangles. Cut the triangles out with the scissors. Cut a strip of fabric from the white felt. Use the hot glue to attach the white strip to the bottom of the hat. Use the hot glue gun to glue the 2 long sides together. Don't glue the bottom of the triangle as this will fit over the head for a hat. Set the hat to the side.

Use your skin-toned paint, either pink or tan, to paint a large oval on whichever side will be your Santa's face. This will be the only part of the face that shows. Let the paint dry.

Take a cotton ball from the bag. Tear the ball up into 4 pieces. Glue the 4 pieces to the top of the tin can with white glue.

Glue the two wiggly eyes close together on side of the can. The eyes should be located about an inch below the top rim. Glue on the skin-colored pom pom for the nose of Santa.

Slide the Santa hat onto the can and glue it into place with the hot glue gun. Use white glue to attach the cotton balls to the Santa face. Add lots of cotton balls to the back of Santa's head too.

Tips & Warnings
Sprinkle a little silver or gold glitter on the cotton balls before attaching them to the can.
