How to Get Grease Off Stove Burners
Cooking can make a real mess of stovetop burners. Frying foods on the stove often leaves the burners covered in grease splatter. The food may taste delicious, but you're left with quite a greasy mess to clean up. Clean grease from stove burners by using the right cleaning products and methods. The stovetop burners will be shiny and clean---at least until the next time you cook. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Hot water
- Dish soap
- Scouring pad
- Abrasive cleaner (optional)
- Clean towel
- 1/4 cup ammonia
- Large stock pot
- 1 cup baking soda
Instructions
-
-
1
Make sure the burners are cool, then remove them from the stove top.
-
2
Soak the burners in hot, soapy water in the sink for about half an hour. Hold the burners, one at a time, under warm water and scrub them with a scouring pad and dish soap. You can also use an abrasive cleaner such as Soft Scrub or Comet.
-
-
3
Rinse the burners with plain water. Dry them thoroughly with a clean towel prior to placing them back on the stove top.
-
4
For heavily soiled burners, fill the sink with hot water and 1/4 cup ammonia. Soak the burners in the water for a minimum of three hours.
-
5
Wash the burners clean with soap and water. Use a scouring pad or brush to scrub off excess grease. The majority of the grease will have dissolved in the water.
-
6
Rinse the burners with clean water and dry thoroughly.
-
7
Use baking soda and boiling water as an alternative method for cleaning grease from stove burners. Put the burners in a large stockpot and fill it with enough water to completely cover the burners.
-
8
Add 1 cup baking soda to the pot. Place the pot on the stove to boil the water. If all of the burners are grease-stained, you will need to do this more than once, since you obviously need at least one burner to boil the water.
-
9
Allow the burners to boil in the water for about 10 minutes, or until you notice the grease significantly lifting from the burners. The baking soda will help to remove much of the grease buildup.
-
10
Remove the stockpot from the heat and allow the water to cool enough to work with. Scrub the burners with soapy water to remove any residual grease. Rinse and dry thoroughly before placing back onto the stove top.
