Instructions

    • 1

Place the wooden stakes at the four corners of the area that you are turning into a patio. Run the string around the area by looping it once around each stake and tying it off at the last stake.

    • 2

Cut the grass 3 inches deep with the sod cutter and remove the sod. Put it aside for use on other areas of the lawn that may need to be repaired.

    • 3

Use the metal rake to even the soil.

    • 4

Place the landscape fiber on the soil and put a 2-inch layer of sand over the fiber. These two layers will prevent weeds from coming up into the patio.

    • 5

Press down the sand with a hand tamper.

    • 6

Pour the pea gravel over the sand and use the metal rake to spread the gravel so that it is flush with the grass areas surrounding the patio.
