How to Apply Ghost Glow Paint
Ghost glow paint is applied to gun sights to make them more visible to shooters in dark and low-light conditions. These paints are commonly applied to rifle sights and the night gear of paintball or airsoft competitors. High-visibility sight paints are mixed with ghost glow to make a luminescence that is charged by just a few minutes of light and can last for hours. This creates a visible gun sight in almost any environment.
Things You'll Need
- Alcohol-based wet wipe
- Two colors of high-visibility paint
- Same two colors of ghost glow paint
- Palette or hard ceramic plate
- Two cotton swabs
Instructions

1
Clean the sights of the gun using the wet wipe. This will remove any gun oil and debris from the sight, allowing the paint to stick to the area far easier.
-
2
Allow the alcohol to dry from the sights. Using an alcohol-based wipe ensures that it will evaporate in minutes, allowing you to complete the project faster.
-
-
3
Mix each paint together in your palette or plate. Use one drop of high-visibility paint for each three drops of ghost glow paint.
-
4
Swab the first color onto the rear sights of the weapon. This is the area that you look through to sight your shot and is commonly painted green or yellow.
-
5
Apply the second color to the forward sight with an additional swab. The final sight is typically red in color and indicates the area where the bullet will strike the target.
-
6
Let the paints cure for 24 to 48 hours. The paints chosen will have their optimal cure time. These must be fully cured so that the kick from the firearm does not simply break away the dried paints.

Tips & Warnings
If you're hunting or competing for a long time, bring a small flashlight or laser to recharge your ghost glow paint. Hold the sight under the light for up to five minutes for a full recharge.
