How to Get Rid of the Pull Down Bar on Search Engines

Modern search engines do everything they can to be helpful. One of their common features is to automatically suggest possible search queries based on what you are typing. For instance, if you type "wonder" into your search engine, you may see search suggestions such as "Wonder Woman," "Wonder Bread" and "wonderflonium." If one of these suggestions is actually what you had intended to type, you can simply click on it and save yourself the trouble of typing out the rest of it.

If you'd rather not be presented with these suggestions, all of the major search engines make it easy for the feature to be disabled.

Tips & Warnings

  • A search suggestion drop-down menu is sometimes mistakenly called a "pull-down bar" or "pull-down menu." Many people use these terms interchangeably, which can cause confusion.
