How to Adopt a Soldier in Iraq

As our troops courageously fight in Iraq, there are numerous ways to care for them from your own home. One of the best and most common ways is through the "Adopt a US Soldier" program. This organization allows people to connect to soldiers they do not know, sending them care packages, letters, or anything else the soldiers need. Adopt a US Soldier.org is the bridge for soldiers and individuals, allowing soldiers to fill out adoption request forms with needed items while individuals can view this information and "adopt" soldiers by providing them with those items listed.

Tips & Warnings

  • You must be 18 years or older to participate in this program.

  • This program gives you the freedom to creatively choose just how involved you want to be in a soldier's life. You can send letters or send care packages--it is all up to you.

  • When sending a care package, consider the USPS--Flat Rate Boxes option because you will pay a flat fee regardless of how much you stuff in the box. To request these boxes, click the "How to Send" link and then "USPS--Flat Rate Boxes."
