How to Mix Different Types of Alcohol
Mixing different types of alcohol is usually not recommended by bartenders because it may cause you to become intoxicated more quickly and get you into trouble. Mixing wine with liquor or beer is not common in the United States. However, mixing beer with liquor is a popular drinking tradition in Ireland, most commonly celebrated by some Americans on St. Patrick's Day. Although unpleasant for some, you may find the following recipes tasty and enjoyable to share with your friends at home, if consumed responsibly and in moderation. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Make an Irish Car Bomb. Pour Guinness about halfway into a chilled pint glass. Pour a half ounce of Irish whiskey, such as Jameson's or Bushmill's, into a shot class. Fill the rest of the shot glass with Bailey's Irish Cream (a sweet, nutty, coffee-flavored liquor) or fresh or store-bought whipped cream. Drop the shot glass into the pint of Guinness and chug the drink. If not consumed within several minutes, the combination of the Guinness and cream will curdle and ruin the drink.

Try a new twist on an old Irish favorite. If you love Guinness drought and vodka, or maybe you just want to sweeten up your Guinness, give it an extra kick by trying this recipe. Pour one ounce of vanilla vodka into a chilled pint glass. Top it with draft Guinness, let the foam settle, then drink. Unlike an Irish Car Bomb, this drink will not curdle and can be enjoyed at a slower pace.

Chase your liquor with beer. Drink a one-ounce shot of your choice and follow by chugging a beer (preferably light beer). People often chase shots with beer to help reduce the sick-to-their-stomach feeling after consuming hard alcohol. Only attempt this method if you are an experienced drinker.

Tips & Warnings
When mixing alcohol, use higher-end brands to reduce your chance of a hangover. For example, instead of drinking Gilbert's Vodka, try Stoli or Grey Goose. Your liver will thank you in the morning.
When deciding to mix alcohol, start out slowly to see how your body reacts. Drink water in between each beverage and make sure to eat food while drinking to avoid becoming overly intoxicated.
To avoid injuries to yourself and others and serious legal consequences, do not drive or operate heavy machinery during or after consuming alcohol.
Do not drink alcohol if you are younger than 21 years of age in the United States.
If you have a medical condition or are taking medication or antibiotics, speak with your doctor before drinking alcohol.
Be prepared. Although combining different types of alcohol may seem like a good idea at the time, whether you are under the pressure of fellow drinkers or it's for pure entertainment, mixing different kinds of alcohol will almost always result in a hangover.
