Step 1
Realize that thus far, the "end of the world" predictions have proved to be false. There have been literally hundreds of these predictions from religious figures, scientists, astrologers, conspiracy theorists, etc. Here are a few...
1284: Pope Innocent lll added 666 years to the date of inception of the Muslim faith, declaring that year to be the final year.
1794: Charles Wesley, the founder of Methodism along with the Shakers, believed the world would end during that year.
1910: The return of Halley's Comet was supposed to kill mankind with it's noxious vapours.
1982: Televangelist Pat Robertson guaranteed that by the end of the year, there would be a judgment on the world. Others waited for magnetic forces to bring Armageddon to Earth.
2000: Remember Y2K? And what happened? Nothing! -
Step 2
Choose to believe the end of the world prediction that is the furthest away, such as this one:
According to many astronomers, our sun will become a giant red ball, larger than Earth's orbit and consume our world in the process. This is scheduled to occur in about one billion years from now. -
Step 3
Remember that the proof is in the pudding, and there is no definitive proof of December 21, 2012 being the end of the world. The Mayan calendar is proof you say? Prove it.
