How to uninstall iPhone applications

Apps provide hours of fun, but some get stale with age.

Apple supports a range of apps for the iPhone, the iPod Touch and iPad. These apps help you monitor weather, manage contacts, stream video, receive instant news updates or play games. You are likely to find that some apps, though, are unimpressive. If you have installed an app onto your iPhone that you no longer want, you can uninstall the application directly from your device's main menu.

Instructions

1. Touch and hold your finger on any icon. You don't need to touch the app that you want to delete, any app will do.

2. Release your finger when the icons begin to wiggle and shake on the screen.

3. Tap the red "X" icon in the upper-left corner of the icon that you want to uninstall. A prompt appears on your screen, asking if you're sure you want to remove the application.

4. Touch the "Delete" option in the pop-up window. A small progress bar appears beneath the icon. Once the progress bar disappears, the app is removed from your iPhone.

5. Press the Home button to return to your iPhone's main screen.
