Are you lost when you get online? Does the unknowns of the internet chase you away? The internet is a tool that can help leverage your projects and most importantly your dreams, if you let it. According to Data Finder, under 75 percent of the U.S. population used the internet last year. Are you a part of that 25 percent who didn't? Your reading this, so you are off to a good start, however, in this how to you will learn how to become more familiar with the internet and how to research so you can stop putting off your online ventures and start getting things done more efficiently.

  • If you are an absolute newbie I would suggest getting familiar with internet by going to the resources below. There you will find links that will answer the questions: What is the internet? How did it get started? Who pays for it?, etc. You can also follow the internet dictionary link to learn its lingo in understanding internet lingo.

  • Take a deep breathe and dive in. The best way for you to learn what the internet has to offer is to just dive in. Search different sites on topics that interest you. Pay attention to what others are doing online. Seek the visibility of the "whole picture". Learn how others benefit online doing what they do.

  • Research. After you found some topics that interest you do more research on it to prevent biased views. I usually bookmark several search engines like,,,, I gather information on these topics by using the same keyword phrase. For instance if I am searching for free internet e-books I would type in "free internet e-books" in each browser of each of the search engines.Trust me for every person that says large amounts of sugar is unhealthy there is a person who says that it is. So utilize the search engines and try to find the most credible source.

  • After you get the ball rolling a bit get an email. It's free, you can get one at yahoo or Google. Join some social networks like facebook to show off to all your friends that you are officially in the loop now. Participate in the community. It's a good way to learn trends and other things concerning the internet. They will all be excited and add you as a friend. You'll be the talk of the town but most importantly, you will be internet SAVVY!
