How to Cook Elephant Ears
Elephant ears are light, crisp cookies made from rolled puff pastry sprinkled with sugar. They are also known as palmier (pal-mee-ay), which is French for "palm tree." Things You'll Need
- Frozen puff pastry
- Sugar
- Cinnamon
- Other spices (optional)
- Baking sheet
- Oven

Thaw one sheet of frozen puff pastry overnight in the refrigerator. Carefully unfold it and roll it out until it's about 10 by 12 inches.

Sprinkle the puff pastry with sugar (about a quarter cup) and cinnamon to taste. If you like, add other spices such as nutmeg and cardamom for a more exotic flavor.

Roll both long sides of the puff pastry in toward the middle. Press the two sides of the roll together.

Slice the pastry roll into quarter- to half-inch thick pieces. (Chill the roll for several hours and use a serrated knife for easier slicing.)

Place the slices on an ungreased baking sheet, leaving plenty of space between them. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes.
