Instructions

    • 1

Pick fresh hawthorne and clean it thoroughly. Remove any damaged parts.

    • 2

Chop the roots, leaves and stems into very small pieces. You don't need to chop the flowers.

    • 3

Put the flowers and chopped roots, leaves and stems in a clean glass jar.

    • 4

Fill the jar with 100-proof vodka and seal with an airtight lid. Make sure the lid is tightly closed, as air will spoil the mixture.

    • 5

Label the jar, including the date and the ingredients.

    • 6

Put the jar in a dark spot for six to eight weeks. Shake it gently from time to time.

    • 7

Strain out the flowers, roots, leaves and stems and pour the tincture into a clean, dry bottle.

    • 8

Label the new bottle with the tincture name, the date it was made and the ingredients you used.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use decorative bottles for the tincture so it looks nice in your home.

  • Because of its alcohol content, don't give the hawthorne tincture to children.
