Measure a vinyl window for a new screen by first measuring the horizontal distance from the bottom of the vertical channel on one side of the window to the bottom of the vertical channel on the other side of the window. This will be the measurement for the width of the screen.

    • 2

Get the vertical measurement for the screen by measuring the vertical distance from the bottom of the horizontal channel on one side of the window to the bottom of the horizontal channel on the other side of the window. This will be the measurement for the height of the screen.

    • 3

Measure for a spring-loaded screen in the same way, except take the distance from the inside surface of the deepest channel to the outside surface of the channel on the other side of the window.

Determine the thickness of a spring-loaded screen by measuring the width of the U-channel in the window, from one inside surface of the U-channel to the other inside surface. The height of the replacement screen in this case will be the distance that is needed to fully cover the vertical opening.

Consider subtracting 1/8 inch from all width and height measurements you came up with in order to make installation easier. This is a trick used by many professional installers.
