How to Find a Credit Card That Fits Me
Credit cards can be a very competitive business. The banks that issue these cards really want your business, but they're also careful not to offer cards to people who will cost them money in the long run. You must carefully choose what card is a good fit for you, just as the banks carefully choose what cardholders are good for them. There are several different options and categories you must consider. Doing the hard work now will pay off later.

1
Consider your credit card needs and write them down. If you're trying to save as much money as possible, don't get a card that has an annual payment. On the other hand, if you're trying to rack up rewards, it may be worth it to you to pay a fee because the rewards will be higher. Consider the interest rates, other fees and how the rewards programs work. Some credit cards are also better for emergencies or for getting special requests fulfilled.

2
Search credit card offers online. Bankrate.com and other personal finance websites specialize in all things financial and have sections on evaluating the current credit card offers available and what's needed to get one of these cards. These sites will also list the advantages of different cards.

Match your needs with what the cards offer. If you want to find a card with a low rate to do a balance transfer, find out if there are any charges for balance transfers and what the rules are pertaining to these types of transactions.

4
Read the fine print. Some cards offer great deals or rewards in the beginning, but then the rules change after 30 or 60 days. The rates also might change dramatically if you make a late payment even just once.
