How to Harvest Honeysuckle
Honeysuckle vines feature green leaves and bright orange or yellow trumpet-like flowers. The flowers are fragrant and produce a very sweet nectar that can be consumed and enjoyed. While honeysuckle is enjoyable to eat, learning to harvest it can also be very helpful in the event of being stranded in the wilderness without food. The high sugar content of the nectar can help to keep your body going until you reach civilization. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Pick a honeysuckle flower off of the vine, being sure to get the flower and a bit of the green stem at the base of the flower. You can use your fingers to pinch it right off the vine.

2
Pierce the base of the honeysuckle flower, just above the green stem. Do not go all the way through to the stamen or you will not be able to harvest the nectar.

3
Carefully pull the base of the honeysuckle flower away from the body, pulling the stamen along with it.
-
4
Suck any nectar off the stamen and then suck the remaining nectar through the open base of the flower. Repeat this process as needed or desired in order to harvest enough nectar to keep your body energized.
