How to Become Pregnant With High FSH Levels

Follicle Stimulating Hormone, or FSH, is a key part of a woman's reproductive cycle. This hormone controls the follicles, which are stimulated to produce a mature egg to be released at ovulation. Levels of FSH can indicate the amount and quality of a woman's remaining ovarian reserve of eggs. If the egg quantity and quality are beginning to decrease, the body produces more FSH to compensate, resulting in high FSH levels. Getting pregnant with high FSH levels is possible but may require assisted fertility treatments or a donor egg.

Instructions

1. Talk to your doctor about In-vitro Fertilization (IVF). During in-vitro fertilization, only the best eggs harvested are fertilized and cultured into blastocysts. This means that egg quality can be carefully examined before implantation to ensure the best chance of becoming pregnant.

2. Discuss the option of using Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection or ICSI. This process is combined with in-vitro fertilization. The eggs are harvested, and the sperm are injected directly into the egg to fertilize it. ICSI can raise the success rate of IVF for women with high FSH.

3. Consider use of an egg donor. If FSH levels indicate that the ovarian reserve is too diminished for IVF to be successful with a woman's own eggs, a donor egg may be used. This means that the woman is not the biological mother of the baby but may still allow her to become pregnant.
