How to Find an Artificial Insemination Center
If a woman is having trouble conceiving a child or does not have a partner, she may turn to an artificial insemination center for assistance. The center may help her by injecting donor sperm, or even sperm from her husband or partner, into her uterus, cervix--lowest part of the uterus, fallopian tubes--tubes through which the egg travels to the uterus, or vagina. The first step in the artificial insemination process is finding a center or clinic to use.

Find a Center
-
1
Ask your family doctor for a recommendation. She may know a few reputable centers from which you can choose.
-
2
Contact your gynecologist and ask for a recommendation. Depending on the type of insemination you have in mind, your gynecologist may even be qualified to assist you, eliminating your need for an artificial insemination center. If you plan to inseminate yourself at home, for example, your gynecologist may assist you with acquiring donor sperm.

Visit a website that maintains a database of artificial insemination centers. Some provide listings that are categorized by state while others allow users to search for centers by zip code.
-
4
Go to a support group for infertile individuals and couples. Some of the participants may be willing to offer suggestions. Likewise, the group's leader or organizer may be able to help as well.
-
5
Check your local telephone directory for listings. You may find these centers listed as artificial insemination clinics or fertility clinics.
-
6
Call your health insurance company for a list of centers in your area. If your insurance covers fertility-related services, you may have to see one of its approved centers in order to have your artificial insemination covered.
-

Visit at least a few different artificial insemination centers and interview the doctors. These visits provide opportunities for you to decide whether you feel comfortable with any of the doctors and learn details about the services they offer. You may also ask about each center's success rate.
