How to Change Your Player Name in Day of Defeat

Day of Defeat is a Source-engine based World War II multiplayer video game played over the Steam client. The game was released in 2005. Players are identified by their character's name. Sometimes people might wish to change that name. There are a couple of ways to do it, one from the main menu and one from within the game itself.

Instructions

From the Menu

1. From the Day of Defeat main menu, click "Options."

2. From the options menu, click the tab labeled "Multiplayer."

3. Enter the desired name into the box under the words "Player Name."

4. Click "OK."

From in the Game

1. Press the tilde key (~).

2. Type "name xxxxx," where "xxxxx" is the desired name.

3. Hit enter.

4. Press tilde (~) again to exit the developers' console.

Tips & Warnings

• If these steps don't work, try changing your name in the Steam menu. That menu can be accessed while in game by pressing shift and tab together. In the main steam client, click on community, "My Control Panel," and "Edit my SteamID page." Click and type in a new name.
