How to Restore a QIC Backup File
A QIC file is a backup file in Windows 95 and 98. QIC files are similar to zip files. Each QIC file is an archive that contains multiple files. QIC files can only be recovered from computers with Windows 95 or 98. Later versions of Windows save backup files as BKF files, and they do not include a backup utility that recovers QIC files.

On a computer running Windows 95 or 98, select "Start" (in the bottom left corner of the screen). Select "Settings," then "Control Panel."

Click "Add/Remove Programs" in the Windows Control Panel.

Click "Windows Setup."

Verify that ""Backup" is selected, and click "OK" to complete the installation of the Windows backup utility.

Click "Start," then "Programs." Click "Accessories," then "System Tools." Select "Backup."

Select "Restore." Navigate to the location of the QIC file and select it. Follow the on-screen instructions to restore the contents of the QIC file.
