How to Drink Egg Whites

Egg whites are a good source of low-fat protein. In fact, two egg whites contain approximately the same amount of protein as one ounce of meat, according to the USDA Dietary guidelines. Drinking raw egg whites can be dangerous due to the possibility of salmonella contamination but you can enjoy the same health benefits without the risk of illness by drinking pasteurized egg whites.   • Pasteurized egg whites
  • Blender
  • Fruit juice

Instructions

      Pour one cup of pasteurized egg whites into a blender. These products are available in the refrigerated section of most grocery stores.

      Add one cup of 100-percent fruit juice to the blender. You can use any type of juice you prefer such as orange juice, pineapple juice, apple juice or fruit and vegetable juice blends. Try to avoid juices with added sugar if you are attempting to lose weight or limit your sugar intake.

      Add approximately four ice cubes to the blender. The ice cubes with thicken the texture of the drink during blending.

      Blend the ingredients until they are smooth.

      Pour the egg white mixture into a large glass. Drink immediately as the mixture will separate over time.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you do not want the extra calories from the fruit juice, try flavoring egg whites with a spoonful of sugar substitute and a teaspoon of flavor extracts or sugar-free syrups.
