Tips & Warnings
Check to see if your washer has a bleach container. Using the bleach container will ensure that the bleach will always be mixed into the water at the appropriate times. If you're unsure about your bleach being safe for color, check the label. Bleach products that are safe for colors will have color-safe printed boldly on the label. If the label does not say color safe, only use the bleach on whites, never on colors.
Before using any bleach product, test your clothes for color fastness. This means putting a small drop of bleach onto an inconspicuous part of a piece of clothing. If the bleach changes or damages the color in any way, it means that your bleach is not meant for use with colored clothes. Never mix bleach with ammonia, hand soap or anything other than laundry soap. Mixing bleach with other products can produce fumes that can make you sick. These fumes could even be deadly. It can also cause chemical burns to your skin.
