How to Clock a Garret Turbo
A turbo is a forced induction upgrade made to a car to improve its top end and acceleration performance. Garrett turbos are considered some of the best, most well-made performance turbos available to the automobile upgrade and racing communities, but often times do not arrive "clocked" or set up correctly for easy installation. Make your turbo install go smoothly and quickly by clocking your turbo at home.
Instructions

1
Remove your turbo and find the 6 bolts on the intake side of the turbo that are marked with red coloring.
-
2
Use an open-ended 1/2 inch wrench to loosen each of the six bolts in a criss-cross or star pattern. Do not completely remove the bolts, but make them loose enough that they may be spun with your fingers.
-
-
3
Locate the six bolts on the exhaust side of the turbo marked with green paint.
-
4
Use the 1/2" open-ended wrench to loosen these bolts the same as the ones on the intake side. Do not remove them, but they should be loose enough to spin with your fingers.
-
5
Hold one side of the turbo in each hand and twist the turbo into the correct position for your application. Often it is easiest to do this with the intake manifold handy, so that you may measure up the angle needed.
-
6
Tighten each of the six red and six green bolts on both sides of the turbo, 1/4 turn past snug. Overtightening may cause breakage, an expensive problem to fix in turbo applications.

This procedure may be done with one side of the turbo attached to the intake manifold for better accuracy when setting the angle.
