How to Remove Black Mold From a Bathtub
Mold in bathtubs is a common problem in many homes due to the conditions being ideal in these locations for its growth. Mold grows best in moist and humid areas, a situation common in many bathrooms. Black mold is a particularly bad form of spore that develops in some areas. Not only does it sometimes create health risks, but the mold will often stain porous surfaces black. Even after the spores are killed, the stain may remain. Cleaning black mold is best done by using a diluted bleach mixture on infected surfaces. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Fill a bucket half full of warm water and the other half with bleach. Also fill a spray bottle with the same ratio of water and bleach solution. Stir both to make sure they are properly mixed.
-
2
Put on rubber gloves, and begin spraying the mold-covered areas, being sure to thoroughly coat the area. Allow the solution to sit on the mold for 15 to 30 minutes.
-
-
3
Rinse the pre-treated area with warm water, and make sure any dislodged mold or debris is rinsed down the drain.
-
4
Using a thick scouring sponge or brush, dip it in the bucket of bleach water solution and begin lightly scrubbing at the affected area.
-
5
Rinse with clean water thoroughly, and repeat the process of scrubbing and rinsing a second time to ensure the area is both completely clean, and all mold spores are killed. If there are doubts that it is completely clean, it is acceptable to repeat the process a third time.
-
6
Thoroughly ventilate the room by turning on a bathroom fan, opening a window, or at the very least, leaving the bathroom door open for better airflow.
-
7
When the once-infected area is completely dry, inspect the tub for signs of continued infection. If some is found, repeat the treatment until it's gone. If there is no sign of mold, give the bathtub a thorough cleaning with a good bathroom cleaner to properly disinfect all surfaces.

To prevent future mold growth, let bathrooms air out and naturally dry after baths or showers.
Wear a face mask to protect your lungs while cleaning. Black mold is toxic and may cause health issues for people, especially those with preexisting respiratory conditions.
