How to Remove Pet Odors From a Carpet
You love your pets and would do anything for them. You even still love them when they have accidents on your carpet, but you do not love the odor. Pet odors on carpets are challenging to get out. It may be embarrassing to you when guests come over and your carpet smells like dog urine. It may take a little effort and a combination of techniques, but you can get rid of pet odors. Clean the area with soap and water. Blot up excess liquid at the accident site. After liquid is blotted up, mix a mild dish soap with hot water. Submerge a clean cloth in the water and squeeze out excess. Gently scrub the offending substance until the odor is gone. This method may be effective to remove pet odors from carpet, but you may have to repeat the process.

Sprinkle baking soda over the area with the odor. This will work for urine odors as well as general pet odors in your carpet. Leave the baking soda on the carpet overnight and vacuum it up the next morning.

Combine 2 cups of white vinegar and 1 gallon of water if the odors remain. Use a rag to clean the area and then rinse with a damp cloth. The smell of the vinegar will soon dissipate along with the pet odor.

Tips & Warnings
Don't use a steam cleaner on the carpet. The heat might set any stains and odors into the carpet.
When trying to remove pet odors from carpet, do a spot test first in an out of the way area. This way, if the product damages your carpet, it will not be noticed.
