How to Make Christmas Tree Candle Beaded Ornaments
Christmas candles bring a soft light as they set on the branch of a Christmas tree. A Christmas tree candle ornament made from beads may not put off light but it adds its own brightness to a Christmas tree. These beaded ornaments are inexpensive and you can do this project with elementary age children.
Things You'll Need
- Chenille stick
- Scissors or wire cutter
- White craft glue
- 2 7-inch strands of thread or nylon craft/bead wire
- 6 red tri-beads
- 18 green tri-beads
- 15 18mm red star-flake beads
- 1 8mm yellow or clear faceted bead
Instructions
-
-
1
Cut a 3-inch piece off the chenille stick.
-
2
Place a dab of glue on one end of the 3-inch chenille stem, then place a red star-flake bead near the end. Feed the other red star-flake beads onto the chenille stem, which will leave about ¼ inch of space at the end of the stem of the candle ornament.

3
Take a 7-inch \strand of thread or nylon craft/bead wire and tie the ends together to form a loop. Loop the thread in place around the stem by pulling one loop end through the other loop end and pulling the thread tightly in place around the stem to form a hanger for the Christmas tree candle. Put a dab of glue on the end of the ornament stem and place the yellow or clear faceted bead on the end of the stem. Clip off any excess stem sticking out of the bead with wire cutters or scissors.
-
4
Take the other strand of thread or nylon craft/bead wire and feed the tri-beads on to it, going in a sequence of three green, one red, three green, until all 24 of the tri-beads are on the thread. Center the beads on the thread, then tie the ends of the thread tightly together to form a circle or wreath portion for the candle ornament
-
5
Place the candle portion in the middle of the bead wreath. Take the thread ends from the wreath and weave them through the star-flake beads on the candle portion and to the outer side of the wreath on the opposite side. Tie the two ends together to hold the wreath section on to the candle portion. Once the wreath is secured in place, clip off the excess thread or wire.
