    • 2

Screw the lid of the jar tightly into place to prevent any air from escaping. Store in a cool, dry place.

    • 3

Add one teaspoon of sugar and one teaspoon of ground ginger every day for the next seven days. After seven days, the plant is ready to make the final product: ginger beer.

Tips & Warnings

  • Adding a half cup of lemon juice to the plant mixture will sweeten the flavor of the final beer.

  • After brewing ginger beer, you can reuse the plant mixture by adding a cupful of cold water and storing and feeding it again for another seven days.

  • The carbonation built up during the fermentation process of brewing ginger beer can cause bottles to explode. When making ginger beer, seal bottles with corks instead of twist caps to allow a little of the pressure to escape.
