How to Critique a Public Speech Term Paper
Evaluating a term paper on public speaking relies on the same factors as other types of term paper evaluations. Important in the content are factors such as clarity, demonstrating knowledge on the subject, and connecting the dots between known issues and new information presented in the paper. Sometimes there is a tendency for the writer to wander, generalize or fail to make concise, supportable points when writing a longer paper. If tasked with evaluating a term paper, the most important question to ask is "What is being said, did the writer believe it, and did he / she support the conclusions?"

Evaluating a public speech term paper.
-
1
Read the first paragraph and first sentence of the speech, and then identify and write down the main points.
Note: The first paragraph of the paper should contain the thesis statement. Everything in the paper must revolve around this single statement. If this statement is unclear, the effectiveness of the paper will also be unclear.
-
2
List each subsequent sub-topic, and then record factual support presented for each sub-topic.
Decide how the sub-points support and expand upon the thesis of the paper.Note: Each subsequent point of the paper should refer back to, support, explain or expand upon the thesis statement. Evaluate how well the writer accomplished this task.

-
3
Look for a strong conclusion, and then write it down and compare it to the thesis statement.
Compare each of the sub-topics to the thesis and the conclusion.Note: The progression of the information from the thesis to the sub-topics to final conclusion should form a complete circle. Evaluate how well the paper "closed the loop"
-
4
Rank each of these aspects of the paper on a scale of one to five. Set one as a minimally acceptable level, and five for an outstanding presentation. When finished with the final evaluation, add up the rankings given to each subject area, and then assign the highest scores to the most effective papers.
