Log into your account. This will take you to the main area where you can use their tools for researching the stock you are interested in, or you can just start trading right away. They do not recommend stocks or investing strategies, so use the educational tools if you are not experienced enough to decide.

4
Look at the past history of the stock you wish to trade. Check to see if it has had any recent news articles or problems with cash flows. You should ensure that you are making the right choice with your stock trade. Many investors are looking for growth and will hold their purchases for a long time while others are looking for value stocks where they can make a quick buck.

5
Submit a buy order for the amount of stock you wish to buy. TD Ameritrade will purchase the stock for you at the closing price that day. You can log into your account or simply check the value at the end of the day at Yahoo! Finance or a similar finance website. You can also check your remaining balance and possibly trade other stocks at this time.
