How to Attach a Crib Bumper
Crib bumpers are long, padded strips of cloth attached to the inside perimeter of the crib. It ensures that your baby doesn't roll into the hard wood or metal and hurt herself. If the bumper is attached correctly, it is safe for everyday use and can prevent possible bumps and bruises. They are easy to install and stay put once attached, but are also easy to remove and wash when necessary.

1
Determine that the crib bumper has at least eight ties on the outside. This means the bumper can be installed safely and will not be loose or floppy.
-
2
Lay the crib bumper in the crib with the ties facing outward, toward the crib bars. Adjust the bumper so that the corners are in place.

3
Tie each crib bumper tie to the crib bars. The bumper should be very secure, without moving or shifting even if it is tugged. The bumper should be tied tightly around the entire perimeter of the crib with no space between the crib mattress and itself. It should also be low enough that no extra space is exposing the crib bars.

Take a step back and make any necessary adjustments. Make sure the ties are secure and are not reachable from inside the crib to avoid a choking hazard. The crib bumper should not be too large or heavy as to restrict the air flow in the crib. The crib bumper can be removed and reattached at any time for washing.
