Things You'll Need
- Mason jar
- Eye dropper
- 1 c. water
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 drops glycerine
Most people have suffered from dry, irritated eyes at one time or another. By following a few easy steps, you can make your own glycerine-based eye drops that will save you time and money.
How to Make Glycerine Eye Drops
Boil one cup of water with one teaspoon of salt. This makes a basic saline solution. Remove from heat and let cool.
Add three drops of glycerine (also known as glycerol) to the liquid. Glycerine is a humectant, meaning it attracts moisture; this is why it's beneficial in eye drops. Stir well.
Pour the mixture into a clean mason jar. Use a new or sterilized eye dropper to administer 1-2 drops of the liquid into each eye.
