How to Glue Fabric
If you need to quickly fix a tear or hem a pair or slacks, but don't want to break out the needle and thread, don't fret. Gluing fabric is a quick way to repair, hem, or trim fabric.

Wash and dry the fabric that needs to be glued. Test fabric glue for staining in an unnoticeable spot. Note that glue will stain silk.

Apply a single bead of fabric glue to fabric. Press firmly. Repeat until the fabric is glued as desired. If the glue is too thick it can be thinned with a bit of acetone.
Glued fabric is washable after a week. Wash on the gentle cycle in cold water. Hang to air dry rather than using a dryer, as heat will melt the bond away. Avoid dry cleaning the fabric.

To clean up after gluing fabric, wash hands with soap and warm water. Remove dried glue with nail polish remover. Excess wet glue can be removed from fabric with a damp cloth. Pick dry glue from fabric with carefully with your fingernails.

For spray fabric glue, spray in one spot of fabric and bond. Repeat. Spray fabric glue does not have to be thinned.
Spray fabric glue is easier to use but the bond will melt if laundered or dry-cleaned. Spray fabric glue also must be used in a well ventilated area.

Tips & Warnings
Do not allow children to use fabric glue without supervision, as it is extremely flammable.
Glue can damage varnished surfaces.
